Our History

Gaïa Surfwear was born from a passion that changed my way of seeing the world: surfing.

Since I was little, the ocean has been close at hand. There was always a bit of sand on my feet, and as I passed through La Cicer, the place that has been my home, the smell of sunscreen and seaweed reminded me that the ocean was always there. Growing up like this made me feel lucky to live in a place so full of life and nature.

But it wasn't until I turned 30 that I dared to get on a surfboard. There, in the water, I found my refuge. A space where I felt freedom and connection with nature in a way I'd never experienced before.

But I felt like the surf swimwear out there was either pretty but not very functional for moving around in, or comfortable but lacking in style. At that moment, I realized I didn't want to just create a product, but something with soul, design, and purpose. Something that spoke to me and made a difference from the start.

This is how Gaïa Surfwear was born: for women like me, who want to feel strong, free and authentic in and out of the water.

Design with an island soul

Gaïa Surfwear was born in Gran Canaria with a clear mission: to create technical swimwear specifically designed for water sports. We design with comfort, functionality, and a true fit for different women's bodies in mind.

With roots in the Canary Islands and a firm commitment to the environment, we combine performance, style, and respect for our environment.

Each garment tells a story. The story of our islands, the story of those who love them and live them every day. We want to bring the spirit of this paradise to the rest of the world and share this relaxed way of life and the ability to enjoy the moment and the now.

The collections are inspired by the colors of the landscape, the textures of volcanic lava, native flora, and the symbols of Guanche art.
